In 2005 the Medford Rogue Rotary Club began an official partnership with Kids Unlimited to expand basketball opportunities to the three highest poverty elementary schools in our region.
The idea was to remove the barriers of participation by creating a free 8 week instructional league that would be run by KU staff and volunteer community leaders from the Rotary. The results were outstanding and in it's first year of operation the collaboration served over 150 kids with year 2 serving nearly 200. This community partnership has been successful because it has allowed community leaders to meet kids and build strong mentoring connections. The only tuition required to participate has been the positive connection to school with each participant required to bring a weekly report signed by their homeroom teachers. Our program motto "Building Champions on and off the Court."
Kids Unlimited and Rotary youth instructional league has served over 300 kids since beginning in 2005.
